Using a quick write or pair-share format, engage students in reflection using the following prompts:
- What does it mean to persevere?
- What was the team's goal, and what obstacles got in their way?
- How did the team peresevere?
- What is a goal of yours?
- What are some obstacles that get in your way of accomplishing this goal?
- What can you do to persevere?
Close by asking students to recognize in writing a person they have witnessed persevere.

Students will compare and contrast obstacles to success in their lives to the obstacles faced by the players of the football team.
